We in this post will tell you all the details you need along with some interesting data. As you may need a Launch date sorry we too have no info about it at this time, so in meanwhile read the complete article and gain some knowledge about JIO
RJIO stands for Reliance Jio Infocom limited which is the wholly owned subsidy of Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries.( Note: Not to be confused with Anil Ambani-owned Reliance communications).During the 2010 spectrum, Auctions Infotel limited acquired 4G bandwidths in all 22 telecom circles in India, which was later acquired by Reliance Industries. It was the time when 3G was not matured in India and operators were struggling to attract more customers. But Reliance Industries (RIL) confidently with a vision acquired these 4G bandwidths from Infotel Limited.
It was the time when 3G was not matured in India and operators were struggling to attract more customers. But Reliance Industries (RIL) confidently with a vision acquired these 4G bandwidths from Infotel Limited.
During the Partition between the Ambani brothers after the death of their father Ambani in 2002 telecom sector was led by Anil and as per the agreements did during that period Mukesh Ambani was stopped from doing telecom business for next 5 years.
What Reliance Jio is offering?
From the initial press meets, Mukesh Ambani never portrays his company as just an another telecom operator, this is because he wants Jio to be different from current telecom players. It is also to be noted that Reliance industries own the majority of stakes in Network 18 which has several TV channels under its arm and have the license to podcast various TV shows, videos and Music content, this is where RJIO stands alone from others operators.
Apart from 4G wireless broadband service RJIO is also offering Jio-Net (Public Wi-Fi Service)Jio Money etc. To encourage the use of Jio services Reliance has also launched Lyf Branded handsets
Reliance Jio 4G
The main reason for Mukesh Ambani to acquire spectrum from Infotel is to re-entry into telecom space as the 5years agreement ends in 2010, but being a 4G only operator is the biggest hurdle for RJIO as the spectrum they bought from Infotel can be used only for wireless broadband services, which means one cannot simply make or receive a call on a 4G network it need 2G or 3G airwaves to receive and make calls where RJIO lags behind. This makes RJIO to partners with various companies including his own brother owned Reliance Communications (RCOM), though this can change the hurdle RJIO believed VoLTE as the alternative for this and start developing VoLTE ecosystem in India.

On 3G, users can make or receive calls simultaneously by using data, but on 4G which is advanced than 3G, one cannot use data, make or receive calls on the same time.
Mukesh Ambani was very clear that Jio should launch all over India on the same day, unlike other operators who launches in particular locations (initially Metro cities) first. As Jio wants to start from Starch for building a good team, laying fibers, erecting towers, it took several months initially to achieve this and to have a good strategic plan. As of March 2016, they have covered around 70% of Indian population and have laid more than 2lakhs of fiber all over India which is really moiré than other major operators. They also have a partnership with Vodafone for Submerged cable system on the Bay of Bengal. It is essential for a company to have high-speed optic fibers connected internally to launch high-speed wireless the internet and also Jio will use this fiber to launch High-speed Broadband service and IPTV service all over India indicating they won a pan-India MSO license in 2015. And for erecting towers, Jio has formed a new company which made deals with Bharti Infratel and other mobile tower companies to share their infrastructure with Jio also initially RJIO installed more than 45,000 towers in various localities where it was required. It is a win-win situation for both the companies as Jio can easily fix their hardware on the existing tower and other companies can use RJIO’s newly installed tower for sharing with other operators.

Why so hype on RJIO?
During the initial press meet at Mumbai Ambani announced that the company can offer 1GB of 4G data at just 10 Rupees (Not any promises given it was just an assumption given by him). This news buzzed the social media for over a month and gained so much of new readers for Jio. Since then every news, either a product launch, any deal with a new company, launch date rumors all hyped the social media without any reasons.
Even we had tweeted many such things in past. We can clearly see this hype is only because of the low rate high-speed date, if you look back during 2007-08 RCOM (Not to be confused with JIO) came with dramatic plans which started offering free incoming call, low rate outgoing calls and a dirt cheap CDMA phone for Rs 500, this event completely changed the telecom industry and brought the tariff up to 10p/min from Rs2/min. Similarly, the wireless data users in India are expecting such changes in data tariffs as the current operators are charging around Rs 300/GB ( 3G and 4G data)for one month, so they wish entry of Jio can change the current scenario and bring down the process at least up to Rs 150/month.
To feed the hype Jio also rumored to launch with 75 GB 4G data for just Rs200.
Entry of Lyf:
Since there was not much VoLTE enabled handsets and RJIO backing on VoLTE for voice services RIL decides to launch new VoLTE enabled handsets under brand name LYF. This has forced the other handsets makers to launch handsets with VoLTE enabled and to release updated for earlier devices which were capable of making calls on VoLTE platform. But these handsets didn’t make any move from the stores as they came with very poor configuration and high prices comparing with the current models on sale.
Bandwidths’ Supported by RJIO
As the expectation for the RJIO get increasing so much of rumors came regarding the launch date, some came without any proper information, some came from top people working in JIO and many came from blogs which deal with Mobile industry, it then became a passion for many to hunt for rumors and post it first on net and others blindly copied it to their blogs, every rumor buzzed and gained more and more visitors for Jio which worked as an advertisement for Jio without spending a single penny.
On a fine day there came an another news about the launch for which many people reacted as a rumor later the official statements came in from the top level peoples confirming the news, the hype gets even high making the hashtag #rjiolaunch on top of trending list on Twitter India. On the coming days, new statements came regarding the launch that this launch will be for Reliance Industries workers and their families and disappointed cores of people in India
Mr. Ambani said, “Business should have a larger purpose – to serve society. Life is going digital. In the next 20 years, humanity will achieve more than it has in the past 300 million years. 1.3 billion Indians cannot be left behind. This is our motivation for Jio.” during the launch event.
Revelation of Dhirubhai Ambani’s dream of ‘Digital India’
Late Mr. Dhirubhai Ambani apparently dreamt of a digital India; a country where a common man would have access to affordable means of information and communication. Reliance India Mobile was born to fulfill this dream and revolutionized Indian telecom by introducing 49p/min call rates for the mobile call, which was cheaper than the cheapest mode of communication, the postcard.
After a decade yet another telecom company – Jio – is born from Reliance family to fulfill the same dream of its founder. During his speech, Mukesh Ambani said:
We have the youngest population in the world. Give them the tools. Give them the skills. Give them the environment. They will surprise us. It is this opportunity to transform the lives of our 1.3 billion Indians that motivated Reliance to enter this space. And Jio is the result. Jio will help advance and realize the potential of every Indian and India. I have no doubt that with the launch of Jio, India’s rank will go up from around 150 to among the top ten in the next few years for Internet and mobile broadband penetration.
It was truly a family event
The employee-only launch of Jio was witnessed by 35,000 employees and their families, with 80,000 more watching the live stream of the proceedings across over 1,000 centers. Apart from the special guests on stage, the stage was occupied by the members of the Ambani family. Dhirubhai Ambani’s wife Kokilaben, son Mukesh Ambani, daughter-in-law Nita Ambani, and grandchildren – Isha, Akash, and Anant – took the stage at some point.
Anil Ambani with his wife and children were also in the front row attending the launch. We know that not many telecom company owners go for a launch event of their competitor. Given the recent sharing pacts between Reliance Communication and Jio, Anil Ambani’s presence shows his support for his brother’s telecom venture, which will also benefit his company in many ways.
The next-generation company to be run by next generation of Ambanis
Isha and Akash’s names weren’t familiar in Indian telecom space till now, but it is soon going to be that way. Jio’s day-to-day operations will be managed by the 23-year old twin children of Mukesh Ambani. Video messages from celebrities, including Priyanka Chopra and Amitabh Bachchan, congratulated Isha and Akash for the successful launch.
As you can see in the below picture there is no major difference ion voice tariff, but data tariffs are much lower than the current operators.
Sale of sim with LYF handsets
From Jan 2016 Reliance retail stores started bundling sim cards along with newly purchased Lyf handsets, further even after announcing officially there were several delays in providing the sin as well as for activating the sim, unlike other operators
RJIO used advanced technologies for activation of sim cards which greatly decreased the time of activation, they had provided CAF boxes to all retailers and installed CAF application on their smartphones to upload the documents online, which is then activate by the employee in their office instantly or less than 2 hrs whereas other operators take up to 2 days to activate the sim.
Sale through Invite mode.
On May 6 RJIO announced Invite friends and family offer to their employees who have a valid email id, one person can invite up to 10 person to use the Jio network , for that after getting the invite he/she needs to take a print out of the invite and reach the nearest Reliance retail shop and hand over the printout, it is must to buy a Lyf branded handset to enjoy preview offers which include unlimited data and voice for 90 days.
(Check out the Lyf handsets here)
Since Jio is betting on VoLTE and doesn’t seen and development of VoLTE supported device ecosystem it has developed this app. which eliminated the need of VoLTE requirement on the handset, it act as a standalone app and if we integrate the dialer app of the phone with Join you can enjoy normal as well as VoLTE calls on the phone without any problems, this has eliminated the need of the VolTE enabled handset to make call on RJIO, also the need of falling back to 2G or 3G environment is eliminated here. The beauty of the app is you can make or receive calls even if you don’t have RJIO network but only a working Wi-Fi to carry data. Also, the calls made through this app are in HD clear quality so you can speak without any problems
Will JIO do a revolution in the telecom sector?
Only time can tell the answer for that, but Jio will definitely change the users behavior and tough competition between current players by providing various services under one brand name.

It is significant for RJIO to launch as soon as possible to get more loyal 4G customers, as you can see Airtel, Vodafone and Idea are expanding 4G very quickly to attract more customers in every possible circle, but where they left behind is in terms of tariff, while the prices are very high and operators keep on increasing the price and decreasing the validity. We think this is where RJIO has to concentrate and reap more customers from other operators, if not RJIO will be a failure at least in telecom space.
