India’s second largest telecom carrier Vodafone India launches 4G in Kochi, Kerala today, however, basic operations will kick start only from Dec 14, 2015.
Like Airtel, Vodafone is also set to offer SIM swap facility to their customers who opt for 4G services.Sources revealed they are going to launch 4G plans starting from Rs 29 to Rs 2500 giving a data of 120MB and 20 GB respectively.
Commenting on the launch Mr.Sunil Sood, CEO Vodafone India said, “The launch of ultrafast 4G services in India will give customers the power to experience the most advanced wireless broadband experience available across the world,” Sunil Sood, MD & CEO, Vodafone India said. “Vodafone’s global expertise and experience of launching 4G across 19 countries give it a better understanding of this technology and the needs of the 4G customer,”
Vodafone acquired 4G license during the sale on Feb 2014 in 5 circles– Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Kerala, and Karnataka. They are providing 4G using 1800 MHz band. Kerala is a focus market for Vodafone India. Over the last 18 months, the company has invested more than Rs 700 crores in Kerala towards network expansion and modernization to build a technology and energy efficient network architecture to support the volumes and the need for speed from customers.
The company is also providing free unlimited movie subscription through a partnership with Hungama Play along with a 4G connection.Further, Vodafone’s 4G customers would also be provided with free unlimited music streaming through Vodafone Music. All Vodafone 4G customers will get 100% extra data for 3 months, the company said.
Vodafone India has been testing its 4G service over the past four months in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Kerala, and Karnataka.
