Telenor India launches its 4G service in  Visakhapatnam today. It is the second city after Varanasi where Telenor is launching its 4G service. The 4G service is being deployed over narrow-band LTE network operating on 1800 MHz spectrum.

Telenor is offering ultra-affordable 4G plans in Visakhapatnam for its customers. 1GB 4G data comes at a cost of just Rs 149 and 2GB 4G data at Rs 249 with 28 days validity. Customers will also get reduced call rate of 25 p/min for local calls as well as STD calls on recharging with these 4G packs.

Apart from above 4G packs, the company also has 4G trial pack priced at Rs 11 offering 100MB 4G data valid for the single day.

Telenor 4G plan details

1GB -28 days – Rs149

2GB – 28 days- RS 249

With the launch of its ultra-affordable 4G service in Visakhapatnam, Telenor has locked horns with incumbent operators who are currently expanding their 4G network. However, Telenor 4G service operating on narrow-band LTE will suffer from poor quality of service and may not be able to match 4G speeds provided by incumbent operators who use at least 5 MHz spectrum for 4G. Affordable 4G service seems to be the last resort for Telenor to survive in data-driven telecom market.
