Roadrunnr, India’s leading B2B hyperlocal logistics company has launched a new service called ‘Mailbox’ in order to resolve issues and reduce costs of missed deliveries to customers who order their products online.
Mailbox is essentially a small warehouse (could be an existing store or location), where customers of ecommerce companies can allow their packages to be delivered and then collect them at a convenient time. In addition, the customers can just give a missed call and get package delivered by Roadrunnr themselves.
Roadrunnr has offered mailbox service to all ecommerce companies that it works with – the service is currently available in 3 cities of Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru.
Mohit Kumar, Co-founder & CEO, Roadrunnr, says, “Missed deliveries is a significant challenge in our industry and we are trying to solve this by the Mailbox service. We use a network of existing stores and have tied up with new stores within every 2-3km radius for lockers, to store packages. Roadrunnr mailbox service brings down the cost of re-try for last mile delivery to 4% from 20%.”
Ask any eCommerce company about their biggest challenges in order delivery, and missed deliveries will figure at the top of the list. Roadrunnr already has build a big network (they are currently in 11 cities and do more than 35,000 deliveries per day), and offering Mailbox is a natural extension of their hyperlocal logistics service.
For an ecommerce company, it will be a big value addition, as they will not need to worry of customer being present at their address at the time of package delivery.
In the press release sent to us, Roadrunnr has not mentioned if there are any extra costs associated for mailbox service or if the customer asks Roadrunnr to deliver the package.
Roadrunnr is a Bengaluru based company founded by Mohit Kumar and Arpit Dave who earlier worked together at Flipkart. It has raised around $11mn in funding, backed by Sequoia Capital, Nexus Venture Partners and Blume Capital
